At Full Circle Wellness, we believe in the power of integration—where ancient wisdom meets modern healing techniques. Founded by Ross Struthers, a dedicated practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine, we are a sanctuary for those seeking balance, relief, and a holistic approach to health.
Ross's journey into the world of TCM began from a place of genuine curiosity and a deep desire to understand the body's natural ability to heal. With an impressive background that spans across continents—from the serene landscapes of Japan to the rigorous academic halls of Humber College in Mississauga—Ross has mastered the art of blending traditional practices with contemporary health needs.
Full Circle Wellness is not just about acupuncture or massage; it's about offering a comprehensive healing experience through a variety of services including Acupuncture, Acupressure Massage, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Guasha, Cupping, and Moxibustion. What’s the difference between TCM acupuncture and acupuncture provided by a physiotherapist, chiropractor, or Registered Massage Therapist?Regulated healthcare practitioners in Ontario are able to provide acupuncture if they have been appropriately trained. However, each of these practitioners may only use acupuncture within their specific scope of practice. For most practitioners, this means they are limited to using acupuncture to treat musculoskeletal conditions. This type of acupuncture is often called “dry needling" or “medical acupuncture.” By contrast, acupuncture used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has an exceptionally broad scope. Besides treating pain, a Registered Acupuncturist (R.Ac.) can also address a wide variety of health issues and symptoms using TCM acupuncture. A growing body of scientific evidence supports the efficacy of TCM acupuncture for many conditions.
-
What’s the difference between Registered Massage Therapy (RMT) and acupressure massage?Registered Massage Therapy is based on techniques that evolved from European massage. Acupressure massage (Tuina), is based on theory and techniques from Traditional Chinese Medicine. In practice, acupressure massage usually doesn’t involve disrobing or oil and is preformed over a thin layer of clothing or a sheet as opposed to directly on the skin. It also specifically targets the points and channels of Chinese Medicine as opposed to an entire muscle. This is a very effective way to relieve pain and calm the nervous system since acu-points are often located directly over nerves and are also highly correlated with myofascial trigger points.
-
What conditions do you treat?Muscle & joint pain, headache, migraines, digestive issues, insomnia, stress, urinary & reproductive issues are just a few of the conditions frequently treated with acupuncture and herbal medicines. A growing body of scientific evidence* suggests TCM acupuncture can be effective for many conditions, including: Source: Evidence Based Acupuncture

How does acupuncture work?In the language of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), acupuncture is said to “move, balance, strengthen, harmonize, regulate, activate, and benefit” the body’s vital energies and substances like “Qi & Blood.” This language is meant to provide a framework for diagnosis and treatment but is not really an explanation in a Western sense. However, there has been much scientific research into the biological mechanisms involved in acupuncture. So far the explanation is still incomplete but the effects of acupuncture seems to involve stimulating nerves that communicate with the brain, nervous system, endocrine system, organs, muscles, and tissues. It can also stimulate the parasympathetic (“Rest & Digest”) nervous system and can alter levels of neurotransmitters and neuropeptides such as serotonin and endorphins. Although many complex mechanism are involved, the overall effect seems to be helping the body restore homeostasis or balance.
-
Is acupuncture painful? Most patients experience minimal to no discomfort. Acupuncture needles are hair-thin, and the insertion is generally not painful. When the needle reaches the required depth, you may feel heaviness, pressure, warmth, or a brief electric-like sensation. This is called “the arrival of the Qi” and is an indication of proper stimulation. Once the needles are inserted most patients experience relaxation or even fall asleep.
-
How much does a herbal formula cost? The cost of herbal formulas varies according to the specific ingredients, the manufacturer, and the daily dosage you require. If a herbal formula is indicated in your case, your practitioner will inform you of the cost in advance of purchase.
-
How long is a typical session?New patient appointments involve a substantial intake followed by the actual treatment. You should allow at least 90 minutes for your first appointment. Returning patients appointments are usually 60 min.
-
Do I need to do anything in preparation for my session? It’s best not to eat a large meal within one hour of your appointment. Conversely, please don’t come to the appointment in a fasted state as this could result in lightheadedness. Inform your practitioner if you have taken pain medication prior to the appointment as this can reduce your ability to give feedback about the sensations you feel during the treatment. Avoid alcohol and recreational drugs prior to your appointment. Avoiding caffeine within a few hours of your appointment is also advisable as it could interfere with your ability to relax.
-
What should I wear to my appointment? Please wear or bring, loose comfortable clothing that allows access to your arms, legs, neck, shoulders, abdomen, and back such as shorts and a tank top. There is a change room onsite if you need it.
-
What treatments will be used in my session? If you book a massage or acupuncture treatment, then as the name suggests, those will be the main modalities used. However, your therapist may suggest other modalities like cupping, guasha, moxibustion, or electroacupuncture based on your needs. Your therapist will fully explain the details of each so you can make an informed decision about your treatment.
-
How many treatments will I need? The number of treatments required varies depending on the person, the severity, duration, and specifics of their condition. A course of 5-10 treatments is recommended to start, with improvement often noticeable in the first few sessions. Once a condition improves, a maintenance schedule of 1-2 treatments per month may be necessary to maintain the improvement. Acute conditions tend to resolve more quickly while chronic conditions take longer and typically require more maintenance.
-
What if I have questions after my treatment? We encourage you to contact us with any questions or concerns post-treatment. We’re always here to help!

After your treatment, you will be provided with an official receipt, which you can submit to your insurer. Please check with your insurance provider in advance to make sure your specific plan covers treatments by an R.Ac. Please note, herbal consultations are not covered by private healthcare insurance.
-
What is your cancellation policy? We require 24 hours notice to cancel an appointment. Your appointment time is reserved just for you. A late cancellation or missed visit leaves a hole in the therapists' day that could have been filled by another patient. As such, we require 24 hours notice for any cancellations or changes to your appointment. Patients who provide less than 24 hours notice, or miss their appointment, will be charged a cancellation fee. 1st missed appointment = 50% of appointment fee 2nd missed appointment = 100% of appointment fee
